Muscat: Oman’s COVID-19 recovery rate reached nearly 98 per cent, as the country recorded the 12th day in September on which no deaths from the disease were reported.
No deaths in Oman have now been recorded for two days in a row, although 32 new infections were reported in the past 24 hours, while 355 people have recovered, bringing the recovery rate to 97.9 per cent.
For the first time since the start of the pandemic in February 2020, only one patient was admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours.
There is also a marked drop in the number of active infectious cases, which fell this week to under 2,000.
September reported no deaths from the disease on the 4th, 12th, 14th, 26th and the 27th, as well during seven consecutive days from the 17th to the 23rd.
Oman’s total caseload stood at 303,705, while recoveries totalled 297,252, as of 28 September. Sadly, 4,095 people have died from COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic. Although there has been a significant downturn in infection and transmission rates, the Ministry of Health (MoH) continues to warn people about taking precautions to prevent the spread of COVID.
“Avoid group activities and gatherings, wear a mask, maintain a physical distance of at least two metres, and regularly and thoroughly wash hands with water and soap or clean them with a certified hand sanitiser,” said the ministry in its daily briefing.
“Avoid touching the face, nose, mouth, and eyes, avoid going out from home unless necessary, follow healthy habits when sneezing or coughing, and adhere completely to isolation if you show symptoms, or have been in close contact with a positive case,” added MoH.
“With our commitment to wearing masks and maintaining social and physical distancing, we will prevent the spread of coronavirus to ourselves, our families, and our communities,” added the ministry.
