Muscat: Medical Response and Public Health Sector Sub-Committees were activated at the governorate level to coordinate efforts on examining drinking water sources, dealing with stagnant pools, food safety, and diseases vector control.
“A meeting was held to coordinate and support efforts to ensure public health following the climactic condition that affected the Sultanate recently,” the Ministry of Health said in a statement.
The National Committee for Emergency Management had asked for the activation of these sub-committees, to coordinate efforts to ensure safety of food and drinking water, sanitary sewage disposal, ensuring and speeding up the safe disposal of waste and dead animals, and strengthening epidemiological surveillance and vector control activities.
All citizens and residents are urged to discard foods stocked in freezers and refrigerators if the electricity supply was cut off, as well to ensure the disposal of stagnant water inside homes to prevent mosquitoes breeding.
