COVID-19 recovery rate in Oman reaches 98.5%

Muscat: Oman’s COVID-19 recovery rate has reached 98.5 percent, the Ministry of Health has said.

Over the three days from Friday to Sunday, one more person died from the disease, while 50 more people tested positive for the virus. However, 97 people recovered during this period.

Over the 24 hours leading to Sunday, three people underwent hospitalisation. There are 23 people in hospital undergoing treatment for COVID-19. Eight of them are in intensive care.

A total of 303,965 people have tested positive for COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic. The Ministry added that 97 new cases have recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 299,278.

Oman’s recovery rate has held steady around 98 percent mark for a few days now: It was 98.4 percent from October 5 to 7, rising to that position from 98 percent on 30 September.

The total number of Covid-19-related deaths reached 4,102, the Ministry of Health said.

The Ministry of Health continues to remind everyone of the importance of following COVID prevention protocols, such as avoiding large gatherings, wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, and washing hands with water and sanitiser.

It also reminds people of the importance of refraining from touching one’s face, nose, mouth or eyes, to avoid going out unless necessary, to follow healthy habits while coughing, and to stay in isolation in case you have come in contact with someone who is COVID-positive.

“With our commitment to wearing masks and maintaining social and physical distancing, we will prevent ourselves, our families, and our communities from the spread of the coronavirus,” said the ministry in its advisory.
