Muscat: The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion followed up on the complaints about fuel quality in some governorates and said that the laboratory results show that the fuel conforms to the applicable standards.
The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion said: "The Ministry followed with great interest what is being circulated on the issue of fuel quality in some governorates of the Sultanate. A joint meeting was held with the authorities concerned, namely the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, the Consumer Protection Authority and the OQ Group."
"Based on the examination conducted by the Ministry and the OQ Group separately by taking more than 90 samples from 45 filling stations in various governorates of the Sultanate, and examining them in reliable independent laboratories, the laboratory results of the samples showed that the fuel conformed to the applicable standards. In accordance with the approved standard specification (vehicle fuels - unleaded gasoline), OQ Group affirmed in this context its commitment to conduct laboratory tests for fuel periodically."
In case of any complaints related to fuel, report them to the call centres of fuel distribution companies in the Sultanate. In the event of non-response, the Consumer Protection Authority will be informed, which in turn will follow up on the consumer complaints and resolve the issue through coordination with the competent authorities.
