MSX index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,053.23 points, up 0.09 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.33 per cent at 552.05 points.

Oman & Qatar Insurance was the top gainer, up by 3.02 per cent. While Dhofar Generating, down 4.11 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of OIFC was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 364 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR 4.5 million, with more than 14 million shares changing hands. Out of 41 traded securities, 12 advanced, 3 declined and 26 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR 29,000 while foreign investors were net buyers for OMR24,000 followed by Local investors for OMR 6,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,383 points, down 0.20 per cent. Price of Oman & Qatar Insurance, Al Omaniya Financial Services, Madina Takaful, Al Anwar Investment and Sohar International Bank was up 3.02 per cent, 1.72 per cent, 1.04 per cent, 1.02 per cent and 0.98 per cent respectively. Bank Dhofar and Oman & Emirates Holding were down 1.52 per cent, and 1.41 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,153.94 points, down 0.14 per cent. Prices of Oman Cables Industry and NAPI were up 0.86 per cent and 0.68 per cent respectively.

Services Index down by 0.27 per cent before closing at 1,650.46 points.  Al Batinah Power, Oman National Engineering and National Gas were up 1.96 per cent, 1.06 per cent and 0.75 per cent respectively. Dhofar Generating was the only loser 4.11 per cent.
