Italian Design Day focuses on urban sustainability in Oman
Event highlights the quality of urban life, thanks to new materials, quality architecture and livable public space.

Muscat: In celebration of the Italian Design Day, the Embassy of Italy in Muscat in collaboration with the Scientific College of Design is organising a two-day workshop by the Italian architect Paolo Uboldi, testimonial of Italian Design for Oman 2021, on

“Sustainability and Urban Space” at the College’s theatre. The even that began on Monday, concludes on Tuesday.

This edition highlights the quality of urban life thanks to new materials, quality architecture and livable public space. 

Paolo Uboldi, considered as one of the most talented representatives of the new generation of Italian architects, shared his experience in promoting the reuse of materials in construction and the dialogue between space and people in urban areas.

The workshop shed light on the role of design in shaping new urban spaces, transforming existing cities, as well as how design can improve the quality of life during the pandemic.  

The students will be around Muscat to capture photos of what is their perception of sustainability and will put together ideas on how to improve the surroundings in their city.

This workshop by Arch. Uboldi represents one part of the solid partnership between Italy and Oman in the field of design, where Italy is ready to share its expertise, know-how and technology to support the Sultanate’s Vision 2040 in the field of design and urban development.

The Italian Design Day initiative is supported by Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation through its Embassies worldwide to promote design as a key element of the Italian lifestyle.
