Environment Authority issues statement about humpback whale in Oman

Muscat: The Environment Authority (EA) issued a statement about the presence of a humpback whale in Duqm Port in Al Wusta Governorate.

"Over the course of consecutive days, the specialists in the Environment Authority have been following up on the presence of the humpback whale in the port of Duqm in Al Wusta for more than a week. It turned out to be the same whale that was rescued last January from the fishing nets in the port," the Environment Authority said in a statement.

The Authority added that this follow-up was done to ensure the safety of the whale and its safe passage out of the port.
