Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,154.72 points, down by 0.47 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.91 per cent at 472.63 points.
A'Saffa Foods, up 6.32 per cent, was the top gainer while, Sembcorp Salalah, down 9.09 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Sembcorp Salalah were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Oman Telecom were the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 522 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR 2.57 million, with more than 14.03 million shares changing hands. Out of 42 traded securities, 4 advanced, 22 declined, and 16 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR228,000, followed by foreign investors for OMR28,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 6,606.78 points, down 0.38 per cent. There were no gainers for the day. Prices of Oman United Insurance, Al Madina Investments, Muscat Finance, Global Financial Investments and Ominvest were down by 2.78 per cent, 2.7 per cent, 1.32 per cent, 1.32 per cent and 1.25 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 6,091.8 points, down 0.55 per cent. Prices of A'Saffa Foods, Raysut Cement and Oman Cement were up by 6.32 per cent, 2.38 per cent and 0.39 per cent respectively. Prices of Al Maha Ceramics, Al Anwar Ceramics, Galfar Engineering, Oman Fisheries and Voltamp Energy were down by 3.41 per cent, 2.23 per cent, 1.79 per cent, 1.71 per cent and 0 per cent respectively.
Services Index was down by 1.3 per cent before closing at 1,623.79 points. Barka Desalination was the only gainer up by 2.86 per cent. Prices of Sembcorp Salalah, Phoenix Power, OIFC, National Gas and Al Maha Marketing were down by 9.09 per cent, 2 per cent, 1.99 per cent, 1.39 per cent and 1.16 per cent respectively.
