Muscat: A number of business owners in the exhibition organising sector praised the recent amendments to the regulation and management of exhibitions issued by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion. These include the addition of a number of exhibitions such as innovative and virtual exhibitions, the exhibition of Gulf products and industries, the amendment of specialised and consumer exhibitions.
Business owners confirmed that the amendments will contribute to attracting many foreign capitals and enhancing the contribution of the exhibition sector to the local product of the Sultanate of Oman. The regulation adds more facilities to companies operating in the sector and encourages them to expand and diversify when holding exhibitions and conferences and attracting exhibitions, conferences and regional and international events to Oman.
The regulation has witnessed a number of amendments to keep pace with the current conditions and benefits in Oman and to provide more facilitation for companies organising exhibitions and conferences and to encourage them to expand and diversify in attracting regional and international exhibitions and conferences in the Sultanate of Oman.
The regulation and management of exhibitions issued by Ministerial Resolution No. (527 / 2022) will contribute to strengthen the partnership between the public and private sectors with the aim of encouraging investments in line with the objectives of the Ministry of Trade and Industry and promoting investment to stimulate the local economy, encourage local capital and attract foreign investments.
Zakaria bin Saeed Al Ghassani, Chairman of the Exhibitions and Conferences Industry Committee at the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that the exhibitions and conferences sector plays an important role in increasing national income and contributes to achieving sustainable economic development, explaining that the new amendments will create qualitative exhibitions that serve the local economy and bring investments to the sector through incentives provided by the government to the different sectors, each according to its sector, components and importance.
Dr Thoraya bint Mohammed Al Ghaithiyah, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Qurum Expo Organization for Exhibitions Organization, confirmed that the amendments will lead to more organisation of the sector, the promotion of projects for small and medium-sized companies, the encouragement of entrepreneurship, the creation of a stimulating environment for institutions, and the provision of opportunities to implement a number of projects and innovative ideas.
