Supreme Judicial Council holds meeting

Muscat: The Supreme Judicial Council on Monday held its first meeting of 2023, during which it discussed measures on developing judicial and administrative aspects of the legislative system in Oman.

The meeting considered ways of finding appropriate solutions to address the challenges facing the smoothness of the workflow and upgrading the efficiency of judicial rulings.

The meeting was chaired by Sayyid Mohammed Sultan Al Busaidi, Vice Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council.

At the outset of the meeting, Sayyid Mohammed highlighted the efforts made in terms of performance of the judicial authority during 2022. His speech touched on steps taken in finalising lawsuits and establishing justice at all levels. Sayyid Mohammed stressed the importance of accelerating the adjudication process to achieve prompt justice, enforcing the law and preserving the rights of litigants.

The Supreme Judicial Council is mandated to draw up the general policy of the judiciary. It therefore strives to ensure the proper functioning of courts and the Public Prosecution Department, as well as the streamlining of litigation procedures.
