Muscat: The Asian Football Confederation announced today, Wednesday, that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia won the bid to host the 2027 AFC Asian Cup, after India withdrew.
The Saudi newspaper, Al-Sharq Al-Awsat, published yesterday that the AFC Congress held a meeting in Bahrain, in order for about 46 members to vote in order to choose Saudi Arabia to host the Asian Nations Cup in 2027 for the first time in its history.
The vote was preceded by the AFC elections, when Sheikh Salman Al Khalifa was recommended as president for a third term.
The Asian Football Confederation announced a month and a half ago the withdrawal of the only competition for Saudi Arabia, which was India.
