Traditional long boat rowing race organised in Sohar

Sohar: The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, represented by the Omani Committee for Marine Sports in the Wilayat of Sohar, organised on Saturday a 30-foot long traditional boat rowing race. A number of rowing teams in the wilayats of North Al Batinah Governorate participated in the event.

The race started from the fishing port to the waterfront of the Silver Jubilee Park for a distance of four kilometres. The number of competitors reached 70 in all boats, with ten competitors in each boat with the team leader, competing to reach the finish line.

At the conclusion, the winners coming first were crowned, and they will represent the Sultanate of Oman team in the rowing race in the Emirate of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates during the coming period of this year.
