Air groove to effect the Oman skies for 5 days

Muscat: The analysis of the National Multi Hazard Early Warning System (NMHEWS) revealed that the skies of the Sultanate of Oman may be affected by a groove of air depression starting Sunday. The air depression is expected to last for five days.

The report indicated that the clouds are expected to flow over most of the governorates. Chances of sporadic rain and occasional thunderstorms are also predicted in the Dhofar and Al Wusta governorates extending from Monday evening.

Scattered thunderstorms are expected occasionally and this might lead to the flow of wadis. Active downward wind within a speed range of 15 and 25 knots (28 - 45 km/h) is also expected. The sea will be medium to rough on most coasts with a maximum height of two to three meters.

The Civil Aviation Authority calls on citizens and residents to take precautions during rains, wadis flowing, and low horizontal visibility. Beachgoers and sailors are warned to keep a check on the state of the sea before going and to also follow up on the weather bulletins issued by the Authority.
