Oman Air clarifies stance regarding Omani trainees

Muscat: Oman Air has issued a clarification regarding Omani trainee pilots.

Oman Air is aware of the discourse circulating on social media regarding a group of Omani trainee pilots. The company would like to clarify that it had previously accepted 86 candidates for a programme to enable them to train for a commercial aviation license ( EASA CPLI / IR ) on the Boeing 737 aircraft at Oman Aviation Academy , over a period of 24 months. This agreement did not obligate the company to appoint them after their training, whether they successfully passed or not.

To date, 34 trainees have successfully completed the course, while 52 continue their training at Oman Aviation Academy.

Due to the company's keenness to support the Omani cadres, and to provide them with skills and experience in the field of aviation, employment contracts were recently signed for 21 out of the 34 Omani pilots ( as trainees ) who graduated from the academy, in order that they may later join Oman Air or another airline. The company welcomes the remaining 13 graduates to join the Oman Air team with their colleagues.
