OGA appoints Richard Michelmore as new national team coach

Muscat: The Oman Golf Association (OGA) has appointed Richard Michelmore as the new national team coach and director of game development.

This came in a press conference held by the Omani Federation at the Olympic Committee building, as part of the Federation’s efforts to enhance the level of the national team and achieve positive results in regional and international forums.

During the conference, Faiz bin Mohammed Riaz, Vice President of the Oman Golf Association, said: “Golf in the Sultanate of Oman has witnessed great development in all aspects. We have various programmes for juniors and school students and we seek to spread the game among girls. We take this opportunity to welcome the national team players who have been keen to adhere to their passion and committed to their responsibilities to reach this stage. We are very proud of their achievements over the past years.”

He added: “We introduce our new coach, Richard Michelmore, who has a distinguished career and a proven track record in developing talent and enhancing teamwork. Richard brings a wealth of experience and a fresh vision for our national teams, and we are confident that under his leadership our players will achieve new levels of brilliance.”

For his part, coach Richard Michelmore said: “We will work on developing a plan for the future of golf in the Sultanate of Oman and developing the national teams. Every step takes us towards the big goal with the combined efforts of everyone. We have many goals that we seek to achieve during the next stage. The national team is the model that inspires young people to practice golf. We aspire to provide great energy and enthusiasm to promote golf in the Sultanate of Oman.”
