MUSCAT: Iran’s Hamid Shamas and French Bastien REMBERT advanced to main draw of Men’s singles at WTT Feeder Muscat 2024 on Thursday. Hamid met World ranking No. 46 XIANG Peng from China in the main draw late of last 32 round on Friday while Rembert will take on Japan’s Jo YOKOTANI in the same round.
Shamas managed to win Indian’s Rahul MAalik by 3-0 (11-3,11-8,11-9) while Rembert beat Yemen’s Omar Ali by 3-0 (12-14, 5-11, 3-11). Oman’s Asad al Raisi suffered to a 3-0 loss against Chinese Ho Dongshen by 3-0. Indian player Chinmaya Somaiya defeated Oman’s Ghassan al Ghasani by 3-0 while Iranian Naeem Nobakht defeated Oman’s player Mohammed al Mutawa with the same score. Oman’s Haitham al Mandhari also lost his game against Italian player John Oybode with a score of 3-0.
The underway edition of WTT Feeder Muscat 2024 reached to the exciting knockout stages of final rounds. On Saturday, the final rounds of the mixed doubles competition will take place to determine the teams that will advance to the semifinals.
Furthermore, the last 16 round matches for the men's and women's singles competitions will occur on Saturday. The TT mega event included several categories including men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles events. More than six tables have been set up in the main hall to allow multiple matches to be played simultaneously beside training halls designated for players to conduct their final warm-ups ahead of entering their matches. All participating players in the tournament are competing for a total cash prize of $22,500.
In the mixed doubles competition, the Indian duo comprised from Parmar / Kutumbale won against Uzbeikstan duo comprised from Avatar Iskandarov / Magdieva by 3-0 to set up a match against their Chinese counterparts in the next round which will take place on Saturday morning session.
The Chinese duo of Zhong and Yuan won against the French Joe and his Dutch partner Shohan Min from Netherlands with a score of 3-1 while the Uzbek duo of Zakrov and Ashikeva defeated the Indian pair of Goyal and Rahul Malik with a score of 3-1.
