During the meeting, the minister welcomed the board members and encouraged them to exert more efforts for upgrading the standards of the award so that it could better achieve its goals.

The meeting reviewed the progress made in the award during its previous editions, the areas of competition at each edition, the names of winners (Omanis and Arab) the media campaigns and coverage made through print, visual, audio and electronic outlets, locally and internationally.

The meeting also discussed preparations for the launch of the 12th edition of the award in 2025, which will be dedicated to Arabs in general.

The meeting looked into the three areas of the competition (Culture, Arts, Literature) and the proposed topics that will be announced on Wednesday 18 December 2024 during the award ceremony of the 10th edition (Arabs) and 11th edition (Omanis). The ceremony will be held at Oasis Club under the auspices of Sayyid Saud Hilal Al Busaidi, Governor of Muscat.

The board reviewed visions to develop the award and reviewed a number of its terms and mechanisms.

Early next year (2025), the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science will form committees to set conditions for the areas of the contest. These will see the participation of Omani and Arab academics, specialists, artists and writers operating in the fields. Then, the award will be released for contestants via the official website.

The Sultan Qaboos Award for Culture, Arts and Literature reflects the attention accorded to culture by the Government of the Sultanate of Oman. It is an annual award that is dedicated to Omanis in one year and to Arabs the next year.
