Muscat: Expats who used a fake company stamp to change the expiry date on poultry products, and to work without the correct licences, have been fined and sentenced to deportation by the Buraimi Primary Court.
The expats were working in a room lacking of the basic hygiene requirements while slaughtering poultry and then using a fake stamp of a different approved company to change the expiry dates of the meat.
The court sentenced the accused to pay a fine of OMR 2000 for violating the Consumer Protection Act, OMR 5000 for violating the food safety law and one month jail for violating the Labour Law. The court also sentenced the accused to be expelled from the country for five years at the end of their sentences.
