Oman education: Team to monitor preparation of schools for new academic year

Muscat: A new ministerial decision issued by Madiha bint Ahmed Al Shibaniyah, Minister of Education, will help schools be better prepared for the new academic year as the minister plans to visit new schools across the Muscat Governorate.
The ministerial decision regarding the formation of a team to monitor preparations for the 2016-2017 academic year, will see the team coordinate with all directorates of education in the governorates and responsible authorities in the ministry to ensure that all provisions for the new academic year are complete.
The decision also stated that if there are any difficulties the team must provide a solution and inform the authorities at the ministry and directorates of education, especially if the problem is regarding furniture for students and teachers, as well as the school’s ability to provide books, teaching manuals, equipment and lab preparations, and an appropriate number of buses for transportation and so on.
Meanwhile, new schools have been constructed as preparations are underway for the 2016-2017 academic year. Minister Al Shibaniyah plans to inspect the new facilities at these schools, see if they have provided a playground, elevators, chemistry labs equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and IT labs.
The new schools are Mahamed School for Basic Education (for classes 1 to 4), which consists of 30 classrooms, the Jawharat Muscat School for Basic Education (for classes 11 and 12) for girls, which contains 26 classrooms. The schools are located in South Al Mawaleh and Seeb, respectively.
Other new schools are the Rouwad Al Oula for Basic Education (for classes 1 to 4) and the Ubaida bint Muslim School for Basic Education (for classes 5 to 9), which contain 24 and 20 classrooms, respectively, and are both located in the Wilayat Amerat.
