NCSI launches a webpage for women’s indicators in Oman

Muscat: The National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) has launched a special webpage for women’s indicators in the Sultanate of Oman, coinciding with International Women’s Day, which falls on March 8 every year.

The page aims to highlight the latest indicators related to Omani women, through six main axes: demography, health, education, employment, social protection, and political participation.

Susan bint Dawood Al Lawati, Director General of Information at the National Centre for Statistics and Information, explained that the page, at the current stage, displays three basic indicators in each axis, with the option available to users to follow the development of these indicators either through the time series available in the information panels or by selecting the year for which they want to view the data.

She said: "The page gives users the ability to download the data available in each axis, enhancing the concept of open data and enabling those wishing to reuse this data."

The Director General of Information at the Centre added that the page will contribute to providing a comprehensive and accurate vision of the status of women in the Sultanate of Oman, and enable researchers, decision-makers and society as a whole to access vital information that supports sustainable development efforts and the social and economic empowerment of Omani women.
