Iran-US talks in Muscat cancelled: Sayyid Badr

Muscat: The talks between Iran and the United States scheduled to be held in Muscat on June 15 will not take place now, said Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Oman’s Foreign Minister.

He also said, “But diplomacy and dialogue remain the only pathway to lasting peace.”

The development follows after Iran announced its withdrawal from the sixth round of nuclear negotiations with the United States.

Dr. Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, said any talks would be “unjustifiable” amid the ongoing attacks. Oman has been mediating the talks.

The decision follows recent Israeli airstrikes in Iran.

The fifth round of talks between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America was held on May 23, 2025 in Rome.
