Oman condemns escalation resulting from the US bombing of Iran

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman expressed deep concern and condemnation over the escalation resulting from the direct airstrikes launched by the United States of America on sites in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign today, the Sultanate of Oman condemned this illegal aggression and called for immediate and comprehensive de-escalation, adding that the actions of the United States of America threaten to expand the scope of the war and constitute a serious violation of international law and the UN Charter, which prohibits the use of force and the violation of the national sovereignty of states and their legitimate right to develop their nuclear programs for peaceful uses subject to the supervision and monitoring of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in accordance with international protocols, including the Geneva Conventions, which prohibit the targeting of nuclear facilities due to the risks of contamination and radiation.
