At least 20 people have been killed and more than 170 others injured after a Bangladesh Air Force F-7 fighter jet crashed into the premises of Milestone College in Uttara on Monday.

The aircraft took off at 1:06pm and went down just 24 minutes later, around 1:30pm, triggering panic and chaos in the densely populated area.

The pilot, Flight Lieutenant Mohammad Towkir Islam Sagar, was killed in the crash.

Emergency response teams rushed to the scene and began rescue operations immediately to evacuate the injured and secure the area.
Bangladesh Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has expressed profound shock and sorrow over the tragic incident.
