Ibra: The "Agricultural Products Collection Station" in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate is one of the most prominent projects that contributes to boosting the agricultural sector and inspiring farmers, thus adding local value to the governorate's agricultural products.
The station serves as an integrated logistics centre for various seasonal agricultural products.
Mohammed bin Ali Al Duwaiki, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Oman Agricultural Association in North A'Sharqiyah Governorate, told Oman News Agency (ONA) that the agricultural products collection station is funded with more than RO 300,000 by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources and the Agricultural and Fisheries Development Fund (AFDF).
He added that the funding enabled the centre to achieve its desired objectives, most notably encouraging farmers to market their products in a way that ensures the supply of high-quality products for the local and foreign markets.
Al Duwaiki pointed out that the station, which occupies an area of 42,000 square metres, uses the latest technologies to preserve, package and market products according to top standards, before their marketing.
By establishing such agricultural product collection stations in the Sultanate of Oman's governorates, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources seeks to set up networks of state-of-the-art marketing outlets that contribute to achieving local added value and marketing local agricultural products that are compatible with the latest technologies and commercial marketing methods.
