Muscat: Acting in cooperation with the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Muscat, the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday organised an event to mark the 40th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Russian Federation.
Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs, said in a speech that the relations between the two countries have seen steady growth since the two sides signed the Document on Establishing Diplomatic relations way back in 1985.
Al Harthy also highlighted the State Visit made by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to the Russian Federation in April this year (2025). He pointed out that the visit saw the signing of agreements and memoranda of understanding that laid the foundations of a partnership based on shared interests and mutual trust.
For his part, Oleg Vladimirovich Levin, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Sultanate of Oman, said that His Majesty the Sultan’s visit to Moscow and his talks with President Vladimir Putin marked a significant milestone in bilateral cooperation.
He underlined the two countries’ keenness to develop cooperation in a manner that serves their common interests and enhances security and stability.
The celebration of the 40th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations affirms their commitment to press ahead with joint cooperation to contribute to security and stability in the region and the world at large. -ONA
