Oman's GDP tops OMR10.1bn as non-oil sectors expand

Muscat: Oman's gross domestic product (GDP) at current prices rose by a modest 0.6 percent in the second quarter of 2025 reaching OMR10.17 billion compared to OMR10.11 billion during the same period in 2024.

Preliminary data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) indicated that this growth was mainly attributed to the rise in the performance of non-oil activities, which recorded a 4 percent growth reaching OMR7.57 billion in the second quarter of 2025 compared to OMR6.78 billion in the same quarter of 2024.

Among the sectoral activities, statistics further showed agriculture and fishing activities witnessed a growth of 9.8 percent, reaching OMR310 million. Service sector activities also rose by 7 percent reaching OMR4.85 billion. However, in contrast, industrial sector activities decreased by 3.7 percent reaching OMR1.89 billion.

Regarding petroleum sector activities, their added value decreased by 4.4 percent, reaching OMR3.51 billion in the second quarter of 2025, compared to OMR3.68 billion in the same period of 2024. This was attributed to a decrease in crude oil activity by 12.7 percent, reaching OMR2.71 billion compared to OMR3.10 billion, while natural gas sector activity grew by 40.7 percent, with its added value reaching OMR803 million in the second quarter of 2025 compared to OMR570 million in the second quarter of 2024.
