Muscat: The Automotive Committee at the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), led by Riyadh bin Ali Sultan, discussed key challenges facing the vehicle repair and maintenance sector during its meeting at the Chamber’s headquarters in Muscat Governorate.
The discussion addressed the requirement for dealer approval to export new vehicles, which hinders export operations, and the need to regulate the vehicle market while balancing consumer protection with vehicle quality. The committee also reviewed warranty issues when maintenance is carried out outside authorised dealers and proposed a joint meeting with relevant authorities to discuss these topics. The meeting underscored the importance of strengthening public–private cooperation to develop and support the automotive sector in the Sultanate of Oman.
