Royal Guard of Oman celebrates its Annual Day

Muscat: The Royal Guard of Oman (RGO) celebrated its Annual Day today, which falls on the first of November every year, under the auspices of Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister.

The celebration included the graduation of a batch of new recruits and a variety of segments, including military formations and a parachute jump, all of which embodied the high level of efficiency and precision achieved by the RGO through continuous development under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Supreme Commander.

The celebration, held at the Military Parade Ground at the RGO Command, began with the playing of the Royal anthem. The parade commander then requested permission from the chief guess to inspect the front row. Following this, the parade presented a silent drill display, which included forming the phrase "Far-taqi Ham-al Sama" (Ascend to the Apex of the Sky) and a formation of the map of the nation on the parade ground, reflecting the high attention and gracious care the RGO receives from the Supreme Commander. The display also highlighted the high level of mastery and skill possessed by RGO personnel. Subsequently, the parade performed a slow march in steady military rows and confident steps to the military musical rhythms of the RGO Band, passing the main dais led by the RGO Standard.

The Foreign Minister handed out certificates of excellence to the top graduates of the New Recruits Course.

On this occasion, the Foreign Minister, the patron of the ceremony, awarded the RGO Special Service Medal to a number of RGO personnel in recognition of their efforts during their service and in appreciation of their loyalty in serving the nation and His Majesty the Supreme Commander and their dedication to performing their sacred national duty.

Following this, the parade chanted the RGO anthem, accompanied by a parachute display by the RGO Free Fall Team. The graduates then chanted the Pledge of Allegiance and cheered thrice for the life of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Supreme Commander. The parade then marched forward in the review formation. The ceremony concluded with the playing of the Royal anthem, after which the parade commander requested permission to dismiss. The columns then marched past the main dais in a regular march, accompanied by the RGO music and the participation of the RGO Cavalry, thus signaling the end of the ceremony.

The event was attended by a number of Ministers, the Chairman of the Shura Council, Commanders of the Sultan's Armed Forces and military and security units, a number of retired commanders, several members of the State Council, and a number of officials.

The occasion was also attended by a number of senior officers from the Sultan's Armed Forces, the Royal Guard of Oman, and other military and security bodies, a number of invited senior retired RGO officers, a number of military attachés from Arab and foreign countries, and a gathering of RGO officers, non-commissioned officers, and personnel, along with a number of invitees.
