Muscat: The World Cancer Congress, Summit and Exhibition 2025, held in Muscat, is consolidating its position as a leading regional and international scientific and medical platform through the rich scientific activities and specialized research discussions it hosts in the fields of cancer treatment, research, and prevention.
The third day of the Congress maintained its scientific and research momentum through a series of specialized sessions that addressed the latest developments in the diagnosis and treatment of tumors, with the participation of an elite group of physicians, consultants, researchers, and nursing experts from inside and outside the Sultanate of Oman.
Experts and speakers during the Congress sessions emphasized the importance of keeping pace with the latest global developments in cancer control and strengthening cooperation between academic and research institutions and specialized medical centers. This contributes to achieving the best treatment outcomes for patients and improving their quality of life.
Discussions focused on the most prominent clinical and research challenges facing medical and nursing staff in managing complex cases, while reviewing innovative solutions supported by the latest scientific evidence.
Discussions included topics on therapeutic nutrition, physical activity, quality of life, and the role of nursing in creating a supportive environment for patients and their families in their final stages. The track concluded with a workshop on pain management, followed by a practical session on telephone triage mechanisms, an experience that combined clinical skill and humanistic care.
The third day of the Congress reflected the integration of scientific research, clinical, and nursing practice, underscoring the importance of continuous research and training as two pillars for developing oncology services and enhancing patients' quality of life. It is hoped that the Congress will conclude its work tomorrow with important outcomes, most notably: building local and regional capacities for early detection and effective treatment, adopting policy and regulatory frameworks through the "Muscat Declaration," enhancing research cooperation and technology transfer, increasing community awareness, and establishing sustainable partnerships between various sectors.
An annual walk, the twenty-first for the Omani Cancer Association, will be held at Qurum Natural Park concurrently with the Summit to raise awareness of the disease and support patients and their families, including awareness events and sports activities.
