Credit granted by banks in Oman rises by 8.5%

Muscat: The total credit granted by conventional commercial banks in the Sultanate of Oman at the end of November 2025 recorded an increase of 8.5 percent, while credit granted to the private sector increased by 5.8 percent to reach OMR21.9 billion.

Regarding the investment item, the total investments of conventional commercial banks in securities witnessed an increase of 7.4 percent, reaching approximately OMR6.4 billion by the end of November 2025.

Within this, investment in government development bonds (GDBs) recorded an increase of 9.5 percent compared to the same period last year to reach OMR2.2 billion, while the investments of these banks in foreign securities decreased by 4.4 percent to reach OMR2.3 billion by the end of November 2025.

On the liabilities side, total deposits with conventional commercial banks recorded an increase of 6.3 percent to reach OMR26.4 billion by the end of November 2025.

Within total deposits, government deposits with commercial banks recorded an increase of 7.6 percent to reach approximately OMR5.8 billion, while deposits of public sector institutions decreased by 25.6 percent to reach approximately OMR1.9 billion during the same period.

Private sector deposits recorded an increase of 9.5 percent to reach OMR17.8 billion in November 2025, constituting 67.2 percent of total deposits with conventional commercial banks.
