Cumulative investment in Mahas Industrial City tops OMR45mn

Khasab: The cumulative investment in Mahas Industrial City amounted to OMR45.74 million in about 20 projects employing 247 male and women workers at the end of 2025.

The city has succeeded in attracting a number of new investments exceeding OMR4.18 million in various industrial sectors like packaging, beverages and various construction industries. These projects are spread across a total area of 109,910 square metres, reflecting growing investor confidence in the industrial zone.

Mubarak bin Salem Al Ghailani, Acting Director General of Mahas Industrial City, in a statement to the Oman News Agency said that the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn) is working on implementing a number of projects in Mahas Industrial City within the five-year development plan (2026-2030). he said that work has already begun on implementing the Madayn Pioneer Complex project for ready-made industrial units for 10 ready-made factories in an area of 12,000 square metres and a total cost of OMR1.5 million to support entrepreneurship projects and development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

He further added that work is underway to implement a project to install security monitoring system (phase one) and includes the installation of cameras and monitoring systems for facilities and installations. Work is also underway to implement the project to plant trees in the front and entrance of the industrial city (first phase), while Madayn continues to work on completing the project to expand the area of Mahas Industrial City in coordination with the relevant authorities, which aims to provide suitable investment, logistics and service spaces.

He pointed out that the Mahas Industrial City completed in 2025 the work of the project to establish roads, infrastructure and flood protection channels in the industrial city on an area of one million square metres at a cost of OMR5 million. It contributed to providing advanced infrastructure according to the latest international specifications through the construction of a 80 metres bridge at the entrance of the industrial city, development of main and internal roads, installation of 100 lighting poles.

Also the industrial city has completed the construction of the main water tank with a capacity of 2,000 cubic metres, a sewage collection tank with a capacity of 500 cubic metres, water, electricity and sewage networks, water drainage channels and other services that contribute to facilitating the industrial and logistical activities for investors.

These has helped in  raising the efficiency of operation and production while taking into account environmental aspects and sustainability requirements in accordance with the approved frameworks. This coincided with the start of the work of the cleaning and general maintenance contractor in the industrial city, which includes all cleaning work for the roads and facilities of the industrial city.

There has also been an addition to comprehensive electrical and mechanical maintenance work for the service buildings in the industrial city, and the connection and operation of the electricity service for all facilities of the industrial city, including the main water tank, the sewage collection tank, the security gate of the industrial city and water pumping stations.

Mubarak Al Ghailani explained that during the year 2025, Mahas Industrial City awarded a number of tenders to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that have obtained the Leadership Certificate, with a total value exceeding a quarter of a million Omani riyals.

Another project to enhance the protection of some facilities of the industrial city from the risks of floods and the flow of valleys was also completed, in addition to the completion of a project to install the welcome sign sculpture at the entrance of Mahas Industrial City.

Mahas Industrial City is the most important and largest industrial city in the far north of the Sultanate of Oman, specifically in the state of Khasab in the Musandam Governorate. Its unique geographical location overlooking the Strait of Hormuz represents an important economic dimension in supporting, establishing and carrying out many economic projects, including industrial, logistics and tourism projects.

Madayn aims, through the establishment of Mahas Industrial City, to expand the establishment of industrial cities and consolidate the position of the Sultanate of Oman as a competitive centre for regional and international investments, drive sustainable industrial growth, enhance national products and create new job opportunities, which contributes to comprehensive and sustainable economic development.

The industrial city targets food security and logistics projects and light and medium industries of various types. The industrial city benefits from its distinguished geographical location close to local and regional markets, in addition to the readiness of the infrastructure to enhance its operational efficiency and improve the quality of services and products provided to investors and entrepreneurs.

The industrial city is also distinguished by its proximity to Khasab Port, Khasab Airport and nearby import and export outlets, which positively impacts the development of Musandam Governorate and enhances investment in it, contributing to achieving the priority of developing governorates and sustainable cities within the Oman 2040 vision.
