
Muscat: The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning organised a meeting on Monday for media professionals and journalists at the Ministry’s headquarters to introduce its projects, initiatives, and the comprehensive development of flexible and more efficient digital services that meet the needs of beneficiaries.
The meeting included visual presentations showcasing the housing empowerment system’s transition from traditional procedures to proactive services.
The “Choose Your Land” platform was also highlighted, which has helped reshape housing options by allowing citizens to select lands or residential units electronically according to precise criteria within a secure and transparent digital environment.
This platform enabled more than 90,000 beneficiaries to select their lands or housing units during the period from 2021 to 2025 through a diverse package of housing options.
Among the services provided by the Ministry is “Acquire Your Land,” which allows for the purchase of prime lands at subsidised prices ranging between 20 percent and 40 percent without waiting for a turn, benefitting more than 1,600 people. “Plan Your Land” is an exceptional option that allows for the planning of lands near the beneficiaries’ residences, utilized by 914 beneficiaries.
Additionally, “Exchange Your Land” is a flexible service that allows for the exchange of government lands within the same wilayat, which has benefitted 127 people.
Regarding the “Sorouh” projects, the Ministry provided residential units within integrated neighbourhoods for 797 beneficiaries and sought to provide lands within integrated environments in its layouts for 317 beneficiaries. Furthermore, future city projects, which offer residential units within modern smart cities, have benefited 460 beneficiaries.
Sultan Haitham City stands as one of the most prominent urban projects in the Sultanate of Oman, with investments exceeding OMR2.4 billion, alongside the implementation of infrastructure packages valued at OMR205 million, comprising eight main packages.
The project has seen significant implementation progress, with site preparation and leveling works 100 percent complete. Completion rates for bridges have reached approximately 75 percent, infrastructure nearly 40 percent, and power stations 94 percent.
Additionally, sales have exceeded 1,700 housing units, reflecting the increasing demand for the project.
In A’Thuraya City, where executive works commenced in 2025, projects worth RO 45 million have been awarded, and development agreements exceeding RO 265 million have been signed. As for the Al Jabal Al Aali project, it represents an integrated model for tourism and urban development with investments reaching OMR650 million through six development agreements.
Approximately 60 percent of the project has been awarded to developers amid high investment demand. The Ministry is also working on the Al Khuwair Downtown masterplan, where two investment memoranda of understanding were signed with investment values exceeding OMR150 million each, with the Turkish Artas Holding and the OGCC International Foundation.
The Ministry works to enhance social stability and improve the quality of life by implementing social housing programs aimed at supporting eligible families and enabling them to obtain suitable housing, within a developmental approach that balances social and economic dimensions. During the period from 2020 to 2025, more than 8,000 families in various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman benefited from social housing programmes.
The meeting also included a tour of the Ministry’s building, during which participants learned about the roles of the various directorates and their contributions to facilitating and simplifying procedures for beneficiaries.-ONA
