HM The Sultan, Emir of Qatar discuss regional developments

Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, held a fraternal meeting at Al Barakah Palace today.

During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed regional developments and their repercussions on the security, stability, safety of peoples, and economic interests of nations.

Both sides stressed the need to reach a definitive agreement and resolve the crisis at its roots, along with intensifying international efforts to secure freedom of maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and to guarantee the uninterrupted flow of maritime transport and energy supplies.

The meeting was attended from the Omani side by HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court, Gen. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nu'amani, Minister of the Royal Office, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister and Dr. Hamad bin Said Al Aufi, Head of the Private Office.

Meanwhile, it was attended from the Qatari side by Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, Personal Representative of the Emir of Qatar, Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi, Chief of the Amiri Diwan, Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sultan bin Ghanim Al Hodaifi, Head of the Office of the Emir for Special Affairs, Sheikh Mubarak bin Fahad Al Thani, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Sultanate of Oman and Saad bin Nasser Al Kaabi, Director of the Policies and International Affairs Department at the Amiri Diwan.

His Majesty the Sultan and the Emir of Qatar also held a private meeting, during which they discussed the deep-rooted relations between the two countries and ways to enhance and develop them across various domains for the mutual benefit of their peoples.

The two leaders exchanged views on pathways to achieving peace and stability at both the regional and international levels.
