Muscat: The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) has awarded His Majesty Haitham bin Tarik, the Supreme Class of the Arab Cultural Excellence Medal, in recognition of His Majesty's contributions to supporting Arab culture, enhancing its presence, preserving identity and advancing the pathways of intellectual and knowledge development across the Arab world.
Sayyid Saud bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, said that ALECSO’s decision to grant His Majesty the prestigious award reflects the Sultan’s visionary approach in reinforcing the status of knowledge and culture and their civilisational role in promoting the values of tolerance, coexistence, and rapprochement among nations.
ALECSO is set to organise an official ceremony on Tuesday at its headquarters in Tunis, the capital of Tunisia, to honour His Majesty the Sultan in the presence of senior officials, intellectuals, and figures engaged in Arab cultural affairs.
ALECSO is one of the specialised organisations affiliated with the League of Arab States. Established in 1970 and headquartered in Tunis, the organisation is dedicated to advancing education, culture, and science across Arab countries, strengthening Arab cultural and knowledge integration, safeguarding cultural heritage, and building intellectual and cultural partnerships among Arab nations.
