State and Shura Councils to hold joint session on Wednesday

Muscat: The State Council and the Shura Council will, on Wednesday (13 May, 2026), hold the second joint session of the third ordinary sitting during the Council of Oman’s Eighth Term.

In the session, the two councils will discuss the reports of their joint committees on the articles of divergence in the draft version of the law titled “Unified System for International Land Transport Between GCC States”.

The joint session will also discuss the draft law on amending some provisions of the Personal Data Protection Law, the draft law on combating the spread of drugs and psychotropic substances, the draft law on amending some provisions of the Penal Law and the draft law on amending some provisions of the Mineral Resources Law. The aforementioned draft laws were referred by the Council of Ministers.

The joint session will include voting on the draft laws in accordance with regulations on holding joint sessions. The session is in implementation of the provisions of Articles 49 and 50 of Oman Council Law.
