CDAA teams step up safety measures across Dhofar tourist sites during Khareef

Muscat: The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) has intensified the deployment of its water rescue teams across Dhofar Governorate's beaches, springs and major tourist attractions as part of its safety plan for the Dhofar Khareef season.

The initiative forms part of the authority's ongoing efforts to enhance public safety and ensure rapid emergency response during one of Oman's busiest tourism seasons.

Water rescue teams are stationed at key tourist locations and other areas within their jurisdiction, where they conduct continuous field monitoring, provide preventive safety advice to visitors, and remain on standby to respond immediately to emergencies.

Captain Muslim bin Mohammed Al Amri, Assistant Officer at the Civil Defence and Ambulance Centre in Al Saada, said the teams operate under a comprehensive deployment plan covering areas with high visitor numbers to ensure faster response times and improve rescue effectiveness.

He explained that the teams' responsibilities extend beyond emergency rescue operations. They also raise public awareness by offering safety guidance to beachgoers and visitors to water springs, while monitoring conditions at tourist sites to help minimise risks and improve visitor safety.

Captain Al Amri noted that the water rescue teams are staffed by trained Omani personnel with the expertise to handle a wide range of water-related emergencies. Equipped with specialised vehicles, rescue equipment and modern technology, the teams are capable of carrying out rescue operations efficiently and in line with approved operational standards.

He emphasised that the authority maintains a high level of readiness throughout the Khareef season and urged visitors to follow safety instructions issued by the relevant authorities, cooperate with rescue personnel, and avoid entering hazardous areas to protect themselves and their families.
