Oman: Sector coordinators of NCEM follows up on grounded ship incident

Muscat: A meeting was held on Thursday for the sector coordinators of the National Committee for Emergency Management (NCEM), alongside representatives of the relevant military, security, and civil authorities.

The meeting was chaired by Maj Gen Abdullah Ali Al Harthy, Assistant Inspector General of Police and Customs for Operations and Vice Chairman of the National Committee for Emergency Management.

The meeting aimed to follow up on the latest developments regarding the grounded ship incident off the coast of Al Qibliya Island, located within the Al Hallaniyat Islands archipelago.

The meeting, which was held at the National Center for Emergency Management, reviewed the efforts exerted to contain the impacts of the oil spill leaking from the ship.

The attendees also listened to a detailed statement by the Chairman of the Environment Authority, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology and other relevant sectors, regarding the potential impacts resulting from this incident and the mechanisms for dealing with them.
