Muscat: The final qualifiers for the "Falling Walls Lab 2026" competition will take place next Tuesday. The competition is organised by the Research and Innovation Authority in collaboration with the German Falling Walls Foundation.
Twenty innovators and researchers, who qualified from among 158 participants in this year's edition, will compete in the final stage.
The finalists will present their research projects and innovative ideas through three‑minute presentations before a judging panel comprising a distinguished group of experts, academics and business leaders.
The qualifiers will result in the selection of the winning projects to represent the Sultanate of Oman in the global finals of the competition, scheduled to be held in the German capital, Berlin, from 5 to 9 November next.
The Falling Walls Lab is a global forum for showcasing innovative ideas and research work across various disciplines. It aims to strengthen ties between researchers, academics, entrepreneurs and investors, thereby contributing to the support of innovation and the exchange of scientific expertise.
The Lab derives its name from the fall of the Berlin Wall, as a symbolic reference to the role of science and the humanities in removing barriers between nations, and to bringing research out of laboratory corridors into society for practical benefit and application.
This hosting comes as part of the Sultanate of Oman's eleventh consecutive year of participation in this global event, reflecting its commitment to supporting national talent and highlighting their innovations on the international stage.
