Muscat: The preliminary rounds of the Sultan Qaboos Holy Quran Competition’s 34th edition kicked off today in the Wilayat of Barka, South Al Batinah Governorate.
The competition is organised by the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science at the Diwan of Royal Court.
Rashid bin Humaid Al Dughaishi, Chairman of the committees supervising the preliminary and final rounds of, said that the preliminary round panel listened to the readings of 756 male and female contestants from the wilayats of A’Seeb, Bahla, Samayil, A’Suwaiq, A’Rustaq, Salalah and Taqah.
The contestants take part in the competition’s 7 levels, which are:
Level 1: Memorizing the entire Holy Quran; Level 2: Memorizing 24 consecutive parts of the Holy Quran; Level 3: Memorizing 18 consecutive parts; Level 4: Memorizing 12 consecutive parts (contested by those born in 2001 or later); Level 5: Memorizing 6 consecutive parts (contested by those born in 2012 or later); Level 6: Memorizing 4 consecutive parts (contested by those born in 2016 or later); and Level 7: Memorizing 2 consecutive parts (contested by those born in 2019 or later).
