Muscat: On the occasion of the Constitution Day of Nepal, the Embassy of Nepal in Muscat organised a Labour Safety and Awareness programme at Nepal House Muscat on 18 September 2026.
The event was organised to mark the Constitution Day, to educate and empower Nepali workers working in different sectors of Oman, to provide training on Labour permit renewal and Social security payment and to offer condolences to those who lost their lives due to the devastating flood of 26 August 2026.
The programme brought together representatives of Oman based Nepali organisations, Members of Expert group, volunteers and Nepali community.
The event commenced by playing the National Anthem of Nepal. A one-minute silence was observed to pray for the victims of flashflood in Bhotekoshi river.
During his address, Bishesh Kumar Sah, Chargé d’Affaires, welcomed the guests and thanked them for their participation.
Sah extended his greetings on the occasion of the Constitution Day of Nepal.
He also highlighted the features of the Constitution of Nepal and mentioned how it has paved the way for inclusiveness and participation of all Nepalis.
He informed the gathering about the Embassy’s initiatives to promote Nepal-Oman bilateral relations and its upcoming programmes.
He further outlined the important aspects related to the Workers safety, Labour awareness and also spoke on the need of financial literacy.
Sah appreciated the support of Nepali organisations and expressed the Embassy’s commitment to supporting the Nepali community in Oman.
He expressed his heartfelt condolences to those who lost their lives in the Bhotekoshi river flood on 26 August 2026.
Damodar Gnawali, Labour Attaché, explained the kinds of labour problems being faced by the Nepali workers and the steps being taken to find the solutions.
He underscored the importance of awareness to educate every Nepali citizen to seek information before heading for foreign employment.
He requested the Oman based Nepali community members to assist in creating awareness and providing support to those who find themselves in trouble.
A highlight of the event was a presentation by Shyam Krishna Bhattarai, a member of the Expert Group, where he practically guided on the process to obtain Labour permit through DOFE website.
He also demonstrated the procedures for making payments to the Social Security Fund.
He even requested everyone to learn these processes and guide others who could not do it themselves.
A lamp-lighting ceremony was held to pray for the departed souls and for the swift recovery of the injured during the severe flash flood in Nepal. All the participants lighted the lamp.
A Nepali-style dinner was served to the guests after the event. The event was conducted by Damodar Gnawali, Labour Attaché.
