Lagos: Oman Film Society is participating in the events of the 15th session of the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF), held in the city of Lagos, Federal Republic of Nigeria, from 1-7 November, with broad participation from filmmakers, producers, and cinema industry specialists from various countries around the world.
This participation gains special importance due to the professional and investment opportunities it provides for Omani filmmakers through direct meetings with active producers, distributors, and film institutions in African and international markets, thereby contributing to building new partnerships and expanding opportunities for co-production, distribution, and development.
In this context, the Oman Film Society supports a number of ambitious national projects, as the current participation witnesses the presentation of four Omani feature-length narrative film projects to producers and specialised entities with the aim of discussing them and exploring funding, development, and production partnership opportunities that can contribute to advancing these projects into implementation stages and reaching a wider audience.
The participation also comes as part of the Society's efforts to enhance cooperation with African film institutions and entities and to benefit from successful experiences across the continent, particularly in Nigeria, which hosts the "Nollywood" industry—one of the largest, most influential, and widely distributed film industries in the world. This participation further represents an opportunity to open new channels of cooperation that serve Omani creatives and support the presence of their works in international markets and festivals.
