Dhofar: A dispute between friends allegedly led to the murder of one and the arrest of the other after the accused confessed to his crime.
The Directorate General of Inquiries and Investigations from the Dhofar Royal Oman Police (ROP) arrested an Asian expatriate after receiving a tip off from an anonymous person on the whereabouts of the suspect, who reportedly murdered his friend for money.
Details of the case go back to when the two friends arguing over money until one had cracked and pulled out a knife to stab the other.
“The assailant had fought with the victim, his friend, over monetary issues late at night. The suspect stabbed and cut the victim several times,” said a senior official from ROP. “The victim was transported to the Royal Armed Forces Hospital in Salalah where he died.”
The murder took place on October 5, following which the Director General of Inquiries and Investigations received a tip off on the suspect’s location.
After that, police officials arrived in the area and arrested the accused just hours after the murder took place.
The suspect confessed to his crime and legal procedures were initiated against him; following which he was sent to the public prosecutor for further procedures.
