Focus on Oman’s presence in world press

Muscat: The 4th International Conference Oman in the World Press and the 7th Documentary Exhibition began yesterday under the auspices of Dr. Abdul Munim bin Mansour Al Hasani, Minister of Information.
The conference and exhibition emphasise the importance of the newspaper as a historical document.
The conference is being organised by the National Documents and Archives Authority (NDAA) and aims at studying the image of Oman and its civilisational development in the world press and to review the Omani documents, archives and archaeologies.
It also highlights the most important figures and views monitored by that press in Oman and consolidate and document its image through scientific studies and photographs.
The Information Minister said that the exhibition demonstrates the Omani presence in the Arab, regional and international fields.
Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser Al Harrasi, Chairman of the Public Authority for Radio and Television (PART) said that many of the Omani events documented in the Arab and foreign press, especially in the nineteenth century, refer to a lot of essays and literary texts that talk about Oman, adding that Oman’s presence in the Arab and international press reflects the world’s interest in it. He added that there are hundreds of stories and literary articles written since the beginning of the 19th century, talking about the Sultanate.
