Oman football: Reading FC’s Ali Al Habsi voted player for the month

Muscat: Omani goalkeeping legend Ali Al Habsi has been voted as Reading FC’s the October player of the month in a online poll conducted by website thetilehurstend.sbnation.com
According to the website, Ali Al Habsi emerged the overwhelming winner with a whopping 89 percent votes.
In an online report, the website said: “About an hour after the poll launched, we already knew who was going to win this. In fact, even before we asked you to vote, there was only one real option... Ali Al Habsi had an outstanding October, keeping two clean sheets and winning three of your Man of the Match awards — it’s only right that he’s been named your TTE Player of the Month.”
The site added ‘and a landslide it was too’, picking up a whopping 89 percent of votes.
It’s the biggest ever percentage taken by one player in the last four seasons, beating the previous high of 84 percent from Jamie Mackie back in March 2015.
“It was a fantastic month for the Omani, who’s showing the best form of his life between the sticks for the Royals at the moment. Both clean sheets (against Rotherham and Nottingham Forest) were largely down to him making a number of key stops — he won your Man of the Match vote for both games, as well as the EFL Cup defeat to Arsenal,” it added.
In any other month, Garath McCleary might have thought he had a chance of the award after finding his form and providing a number of goals and assists throughout October, but he had to settle for second and seven percent of the votes.
“For George Evans, it was perhaps the best month yet of his Royals career after impressing in midfield — he took the remaining four percent.”
