Catch the Supermoon in Oman on Monday

Muscat: Stargazers in Oman will get to see a ‘Supermoon’ on Monday.
When the moon is full and at its closest to the earth, it is called a Supermoon because it appears larger than usual.
The distance between the moon and the earth will be about 356,509 kilometres, during the Supermoon phenomenon and the moon will also appear brighter by 30 per cent.
Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al Mahrouqi of the Oman Astronomical Society said the moon will be 14 per cent larger and 30 per cent brighter than usual at this time. It is a rumour that this is a rare phenomenon, he added. A supermoon was last seen on October 16 and will be seen again on November 14 and December 3 this year.
Al Mahrouqi noted that there is no scientific evidence to prove that the phenomenon is associated with any events on the earth, such as disasters.
The difference in the minimum and maximum distance between the moon and the earth is very small can be seen on an astronomical scale, he added
