Muscat: Sale of regular fuel rose by 207 per cent as at the end of October 2016 to 4,211,000 barrel whereas the sales of premium fuel dropped by 23 per cent to 14,915,000 barrel, according to the statistics released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
Refineries and petroleum industries increased production of regular fuel as at the end of October 2016 by 224 per cent to 5,732,000 barrel while production of premium fuel fell by 25 per cent to 14,431,000 barrel.
Production of gas (diesel) stabilised at 18,213,000 barrel. Diesel sales declined by 7 per cent to 14,707,000 barrel and its exports dropped too by 91 per cent to 2 million barrel.
Aviation fuel production grew by 3 per cent to 4,346,000 barrel. Moreover, sales of aviation fuel increased by 15 per cent to 3,767,000 barrel while its exports stabilised at 959,000 barrel.
Liquid petroleum gas (LPG) dropped by 9 per cent to 2,745,000 barrel while its sales rose by 13 per cent to 1,756,000 barrel and its exports fell by 31 per cent to 1,235,000 barrel.
As for petrochemicals, production of hydrocarbon increased by 43 per cent to 177,000 metric tonne and its exports grew as well by 34 per cent to 173,000 metric tonne. Similarly, Paraxylene production grew by 34 per cent to 554,000 metric tonne, so as its exports rose by 18 per cent to 526,000 metric tonne.
On the other hand, Polypropylene production fell by 19 per cent to 120,000 metric tonne, so as its sales declined too by 56 per cent to 7,000 metric tonne and its exports dropped as well by 33 per cent to 88,000 metric tonne.
