Jeddah: The Sultanate took part in the 11th session of the Islamic Conference of Information Ministers in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia yesterday under the theme “Renewed Media in the Face of Terrorism and Islamophobia”.
The meeting was convened by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The Sultanate’s delegation was led by Dr. Abdul Mon’em bin Mansour Al Hassani, Minister of Information.
The conference addressed a range of topics, including the role of media in the OIC Member States to support the issue of Jerusalem and Al Aqsa Mosque and supporting joint Islamic action in the field of media institutions.
The conference also considered the overall OIC information strategy, the media strategy to address the phenomenon of Islamophobia and its implementation mechanisms, the media programme in the African continent to highlight its status and the role in the Muslim world, as well as the progress in the launch of OIC satellite channel. The conference aims to promote OIC media role in leading cultural exchange, development and peace issues, strengthen the capacity and production of journalists and media organisations in the Member States and cooperation among them.
