Oman tourism: Muriya Salalah Beach hotel now boasts of 800 rooms

Muscat: Reflecting its position as Oman’s leading Integrated Tourism Complex (ITC) developer, Muriya completed the hotel room expansion of its Salalah Beach hotel, adding 84 key to the Fanar Hotel & Residences and taking the total number of rooms at the development close to 800.
The new additions come as part of the company’s efforts to reinforce its position as the leading private sector contributor to the transformation of Salalah into the region’s fastest growing tourism hub.

Muriya has capitalised on the expertise of its main shareholder, Orascom Development Holding AG, with the support of Omran, to create lifestyle experiences that have driven the sustainable development of tourism in Salalah. In the last 5 years alone, the Company developed close to 900 four and five star hotel rooms and leveraged its international touristic network to introduce 6 direct weekly flights from leading European destinations. Highlighting Muriya’s significant contribution to the Ministry of Tourism’s strategic vision for Salalah, recent reports by international tourism research institutions showed Salalah as the only major city in the region to experience growth in both gross tourism revenue and hotel occupancy rates during the past 12 months.
As part of the added capacity, Muriya constructed a new building connected to the Fanar Hotel & Residences featuring the same luxurious interior design as the rest of the 4-star property bringing the hotel capacity to 302 rooms.The building also includes a rooftop bar and a fine dining venue. The Fanar Hotel & Residences also added to its facilities a beachfront restaurant specialising in Omani, Tex-Mex, Egyptian and Indian cuisine.
Salalah Beach is home to two other upscale hotels, including the 400-room Salalah Rotana Resort and the 82-room luxury Juweira Boutique Hotel. Four more high-end resorts are planned for completion during Phase II of the destination’s hotel development plan.
