The Muscat Festival is always a special time every year because it is organised in the winter months of January and February. The occasional light showers made this year’s festival even more special as most visitors enjoyed the rains.
“For me, to be able to witness the Muscat Festival in the midst of some rain was the best thing. It was a wonderful experience and I was able to refresh myself and relish some exciting times with my family,” said Reema Jahangir from Pakistan.
“I am so glad that when I went to the Naseem park in the evening a few days ago, it was actually raining and my family and I were overjoyed. One of the main reasons I totally love the festival is the cheerful mood which you normally don’t witness in Oman. It was just like what we feel back in our home countries,” she said.
While people enjoyed the rain, sales of food stuff also rose high. “We normally have very good sales during the Muscat Festival. We have been putting up our stalls here for many years now and noticed that when it rained, more people came to buy food from us. I think it happens because people feel like eating in the rain,” said Mohammed, who sells a popular snack at the festival.
Raiya Al Ramimy, a resident of Al Amerat, enjoyed the light drizzle at Al Amerat.
“I went to the festival with my sister and a friend. It was really very cold that day. Surprisingly, there were some light showers, too, which made it even better.
“I am not sure about others but I make it a point to visit the Muscat Festival in both Amerat and Naseem at least twice because there are many things which I do not get to see elsewhere. My personal favourite is the heritage village and I love the fireworks.”
The festival features some very popular attractions, such as fireworks, electronic rides, a consumer exhibition area, a heritage village and a food court where you can try street cuisine from different countries. There are also numerous stage shows from Oman as well as other countries which are worth watching.
The festival will come to an end on February 11.
