Oman's State Council Office discusses duplication of higher education programmes

Muscat: A proposal on review of duplication of programmes in higher education institutions was approved on Monday by the State Council Office.
The decisions came at the State Council Office’s fourth meeting of the second annual sitting of the sixth term held under the chair of Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Mantheri, Chairman of the State Council.
It discussed the proposal of the Education and Research Committee in the State Council on “Review of Duplication of Programmes or Disciplines in Higher Education Institutions”.
The Office hosted Dr. Abdullah bin Mubarak Al Shanfri, Head of the Committee and Dr. Raya bint Salim Al Manthriyah, Rapporteur of the Committee to discuss the proposal with them.
The Office approved the proposal and decided to refer it to the next general meeting of the Council, praising the efforts made in the study. The Office was briefed on the annual report of the State Financial and Administrative Audit Institution (SFAAI) for the fiscal year 2015, in addition to discussing several proposals presented by the members of the Council.
Further, the Office reviewed a series of letters from several agencies, as well as reviewing reports on the implementation of decisions taken at its previous meeting, follow-up reports on activities of the committees, and evaluation of the fourth regular session of the second annual sitting of the sixth term.
